This Hampatong’s origin is form the Ibanic tribes of West Kalimantan, possibly Kantu or Mualang. Made of ironwood. This female figure was possibly a rider attached to a Tiger Cat that has since has been removed from the Tiger Cats body. The face of the wonderful lady displays a strong ghostly presence with sharp teeth and shell insert eyes and is what makes this piece a masterpiece. 19th Century in age with weathered patina and lichen visible the face and head. As you can see she is a well traveled Lady!
